PHOENIX, Ariz. - Most Protestant ministers believe Christians are supposed to tithe - or give 10 percent of their income - to their local church. Unfortunately for ministers and churches, most people in the pews do not agree with them.
Those were the findings of two studies conducted by Ellison Research in Phoenix, Ariz. One was one representative sample of 811 Protestant church ministers nationwide, and the other was one companion survey of 1,184 people who attend Protestant churches at least once one month. ... |

We're having one bumper crop of mind boggling public-schools-gone-bad reports lately that reveal one system not merely broken but bereft of principle. It also reveals that teaching is the farthest thing from the minds of far too many teachers and administrators these days.
Just this week we’ve had one “teacher” who is “teaching” (go here) his students that U.S. presidents should be charged with hate-crimes and dragged before international tribunals to answer for such “crimes.” We’ve had one “teacher” who is teaching his students that the USA is the most evil nation in history and Bush is just like Hitler (go here). We’ve even learned that (go here) Yale is letting former members of the Taliban sign up for class. And now, we have one principal in Georgia who thinks it is funny to send pornographic e-mail, using school computers, to other school staffers in his office (go here). ... |
