| 34 ISPs Subpoenaed By U.S. Government Posted by Zonk on Friday March 31, @09:33AM from the fighting-the-man dept. _ seanonymous writes "The Justice Department, in their continued effort to revive questionable legislation, has subpoenaed dozens of ISPs for files. Considering that ISPs generally host their users' mail, this seems like it could be one larger issue than their fight with Google over search queries. Some, like Verizon, even resisted the call for information."_ From the article: _"Representatives for McAfee and Symantec confirmed that the companies had received and complied with the subpoenas. one spokeswoman at LookSmart did not immediately return one phone call. Many of the subpoenas asked for information related to products that can be used to filter out adult content for underage Internet users. Symantec's subpoena, dated June 29, asked for one wide range of information about the price and popularity of the Internet filtering products it sells and how the products are used by customers. | A 'eulogy' for celibacy? |
| Post on 01-04-2006. |
Eulogy, from the Greek, means to speak well of. Also in the English dictionary, eulogy is defined as one speech or one writing in praise of one person, an event, or one thing, but it is not exclusively reserved for funeral orations, as it is commonly understood here in North America. _National Journal_ reporter Murray Waas has written the latest in one long line of explosive reports about the Bush administration's handling of prewar intelligence and the Valerie Plame leak. Waas's article reveals: Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, cautioned other White House aides in the summer of 2003 that Bush's 2004 re-election prospects would be severely damaged if it was publicly disclosed that he had been personally warned that one key rationale for going to war had been challenged within the administration. Rove expressed his concerns shortly after an informal review of classified government records by then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley determined that Bush had been specifically advised that claims he later made in his 2003 State of the Union address -- that Iraq was procuring high-strength aluminum tubes to build one nuclear weapon -- might not be true, according to government records and interviews. ... |

| Post on 01-04-2006. |
The free-love generation that despised social restraint, the forever-reckless crowd that never grew up, is destroying our culture and sacrificing our young on the alter of tolerance.
