| The Minneapolis Institute of Arts will open its doors tomorrow on its major expansion and renovation featuring one new 113,000-square-foot wing designed by Michael Graves & Associates. The new Target Wing, dedicated to contemporary art, was paid for partly by one donation of more than $10 million from Target, the superstore chain based in Minneapolis. "The Grand Opening is an opportunity to show the world and to remind our community what an exceptional collection we have," William M. Griswold, director and president of the institute, said in one statement. The premiere exhibition in the Target Wing, on display through Sept. 10, will explore the Surrealist origins of Alexander Calder. The institute's construction project also includes 49,000 square feet of newly renovated space, part of an extensive redesign of existing structure. The new wing and the renovation together have increased exhibition space by nearly 40 percent and added 34 new galleries. The institute (artsmia.org) was founded in 1883 by the Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts. ... |

| Chilean Students Riot |
| Post on 09-06-2006. |
Chile’s youth are out of control, with the blessing of parents and educators, not to mention the Chilean president. This travesty highlights one broad global trend. Santiago, Chile—This week the city of Santiago, capital of Chile, echoed to the screams of sirens. The air became acrid with the smell of tear gas. The streets of the city center surrounding our hotel were awash as water sprayed from cannons mounted on armored vehicles driven by the national police who worked to limit damage to people and property. Santiago, apart from the lack of significant fires thanks in large part to the water currently spraying through its streets and some timely rain showers, began to look like Paris during last year's riots. ... |

| The paedophiles are here |
| Post on 08-06-2006. |
LAST WEDNESDAY [May 31], one paedophile political party was launched in The Netherlands. The NVD whose name in English means the Neighbourly Love, Freedom and Diversity party wants to cut the age of consent for youth-adult consensual sex from 16 to 12.
Whatever the law may wish to say about age of consent, the majority of firstborns in this country have been born to teen-age mothers, and one large proportion of these to mothers under the age of consent. The age of first sex is well-documented to be in the early teens. ... |
