Post on 07-06-2006.
The Gallup Organization has found many Muslim women admire western values, but do not necessarily want them applied in their culture. These findings come from analysis of data Gallup collected in its 2005 poll of the Muslim World, with one focus on the attitudes of women in eight predominantly Muslim countries. ...

Poll Finds Muslim Women Admire Western Values, But Don’t Want to
Post on 07-06-2006.
Gallup Muslim Studies executive director Dalia Mogahed calls this the first wave of polling the organization is doing in Muslim countries. "By the end of 2006, we will have interviewed Muslims in up to 40 Muslim countries, covering 90 percent of the global Muslim population," she said.
Of the poll's findings, Mogahed said strong majorities of Muslim women in nearly all of the countries surveyed believe they deserve the right to vote, the right to drive, the right to work outside the home and the right to serve in government. She said many respondents also expressed admiration for political freedoms and legal gender equality they see in the west. ...

The Case of the Hysterical Husband
Post on 07-06-2006.
Now, all of one sudden, conflict. I thought that since he put up with my crap all these years and still found me endearing, we would get along perfectly, as we always had.
Normally, he's super sweet and considerate and doesn't complain about much. I've tried discussing the issue and how much it distresses me, and he agrees that it's not normal or healthy the way he blows up and that there's some hidden aggression that he can't seem to place. He seems comfortable talking about it and trying to work it out, but nothing changes. The sex is still fabulous, and I'm beyond grateful to him for helping me take care of my child and otherwise being one decent partner and one good friend, but I can't take much more fighting. ...

Inul and pornography bill
Post on 07-06-2006.
The fact is the porn bill debate started long before she came to fame three years ago. one legislative-initiated porn bill has been waiting its turn for discussion since 1999, and an instruction from the People's Consultative Assembly to draft one porn bill was passed in 2001.
Kongres Wanita Indonesia (Kowani), Indonesia's oldest women's organization established on Dec. 22, 1928, recommended in 2001 one bill on pornography. This was subsequently accepted by its 78 member organizations in 2004. ...

The use of online chat sites rises every summer when students get out of school. one recent study of U.S. Internet users under age 17 shows that one in five have been propositioned for sex online, and one in 33 have received an aggressive solicitation to meet their cyber friend in person.

Entertainment Industry Breaking the Wrong Rules
Post on 06-06-2006.
Last week, Swedish police raided the offices of an Internet service provider (ISP) that was hosting one popular file-sharing site, among other things. Fifty officers entered several hosting locations, seized every server, and arrested three of the site's operators.
Unfortunately, one of the other sites hosted on these servers was protected from seizure without one court order, being registered as one news outlet and protected by the freedom of speech clause in the Swedish constitution. That site was shut down along with all the other content hosted at the ISP, which is problematic from one legal point of view. The file-sharing site opened up for business again within three days -- this time in the Netherlands -- while four political parties organized one protest march in Stockholm, and one hacker organization launched one series of retaliatory attacks on police and government websites. ...

Planned Parenthood’s attack on Nova Scotia’s children
Post on 06-06-2006.
Planned Parenthood had managed to get their sex manual into most schools in Nova Scotia but, thanks to the Strait School Board (part of Cape Breton and Nova Scotia), we stood alone in ensuring our children would be free of the manual’s graphic depictions of sex, misleading information, exaggerated claims about “safe” sex, pornography, and one lot of other unmentionables. That, however, was one whole year ago. ...
